Historian's Report-- Winter 1995

The Thayer census computerization project through 1920 is complete! This includes all Thayers appearing in each of the states for 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 soundexes (1910 was soundexes for selected states only). The project has taken me years to accomplish and it is a relief to have it all done. I have a number of Thomas Thayer Descendants books with the erroneous heading (reads "Descendants of RICHARD Thayer" at the top of each page) and reverse bound margin that I am willing to sell for $25.00 on a first come first serve basis. All other info. correct. All other descendancy books are sold out.

We at the Thayer Families Association are encouraging the various descendants to organize in their respective branches. In order to accomplish this, we are seeking volunteers to act as "FAMILY REPRESENTATIVES." One need not be an expert in genealogical matters in order to accomplish this. However, it is hoped that the Family Representatives will serve as a central "repository" for information on the descendants of their respective lines. The "position" can be about anything the volunteer wishes it to be from collector and "Curator" of family records and photographs and other materials; to organizer of Family Reunions, etc. The main responsibility would be in keeping our association's Genealogist/Historian up-to- date in the collection of information and act as an "ambassador" for the TFA. It is also encouraged that our representatives would actively seek the participation of their non-member relatives to join us in the TFA.

This challenge affords the opportunity to strengthen family ties and have some fun and rewarding experiences in the process. There can be more than one representative on any given line, so long as the various endeavors are coordinated, and thereby preventing wasteful duplication of efforts. If YOU are willing to serve in this capacity, please contact Patricia at 6885 S.W. 161 Place, Beaverton, OR 97007-6336. The TFA wishes to welcome the following new Family Representatives who appear below the ancestors they represent:
